Dentures – removable teeth replacements that are also known as ‘false teeth’, ‘plates’ or ‘removable bridges’ – are still a part of dental practice. There are many cases where teeth cannot be saved, adjacent teeth are not strong enough for bridges, not enough bone is present for implants, or patients can’t afford more expensive treatment options. Dentures may also be the most appropriate option  if the teeth have been removed a long time ago and there has been loss of gum and bone, affecting facial support and leading to a drooping face.

Dentures are manufactured from either acrylic resin (plastic) or metal and acrylic.
